This is a great little cookbook to have around. The recipes for Peanut Butter cookies, Chocolate Chip cookies, and Oatmeal Raising cookies are the best I’ve ever used. There’s a lot of variety too. The only warning I would give is that she directs you to bake the batches for way too long. Almost every recipe calls for a baking time of at least 20 minutes. That’s way too long. Better to use the usual 10-12 minutes rule. That’s the only substitution this book needs!

If you are considering Mrs. Field’s Cookie Book, you won’t be disappointed. I’ve used the recipes from this cookie cook book for at least 10 years, now, and everyone who has ever tried one of my cookies says that they are absolutely wonderful!
In a previous review, the reviewer stated that Mrs. Fields recommends baking times that are too long. This isn’t true. She uses lower oven temps in her recipes, and this calls for longer baking times. (The lower temperatures keep the cookies from burning easily.) Just wanted to pass this info on. Have fun baking cookies!

Chocolate Everything (Company’s Coming)



As the title suggests, everything is this cookbook requires chocolate. Most of the recipes are deserts, candies, or sauces but there are a few main dish recipes and a recipe for chocolate crepes.

Company’s Coming is a publisher with a reputation for providing cookbooks full of well-known dishes which are easy. This book carries on this reputation with recipes with familiar ingredients and simple cooking techniques. With the exception of the five recipes in the main dish section, I’ve seen versions of these recipes in other cookbooks.

Beyond the recipes, the author provides information on handling chocolate at the beginning of the book. There is also a calorie count and nutritional information at the bottom of every recipe which could be a good thing or a bad thing depending on how you like your deserts.

It’s a good book for any person with a love of chocolate and not an exensive cookbook collection. It’s also a book for those who just love to look at the pictures. There’s a picture of every single recipe in the book. I think I put on three pounds just by looking at the beautiful photos. This book really should come with a warning .
